REP Holding became a holder of the patent for invention of gas turbine engine starting system

Within the frame of the import substitution program, employees of the REP Holding Engineering Center have developed a new type of gas turbine engine starting system for the T32 gas turbine starting system, which is a part of the gas pumping unit Ladoga-32. Due to the high level of complexity and innovation, this technical solution is recognized as an invention and is protected by the Patent of the Russian Federation, the copyright holder of which is REP Holding JSC.

The invention was developed by a group of specialists of the Engineering Center of REP Holding – Chief-Specialist of Compressor Department for Petrochemical Industry and LNG Alexander Slitsky, Chief-Designer of Turbines and Turbine Units Serghey Yerokhin, Head of Assembly Department of Turbines and Turbine Units Artem Andripov, Chief-Designer of Compressor Department for Petrochemical Industry and LNG Nikolay Ivanov, Chief-Designer of Assembly Department of Turbines and Turbine Units Kseniya Lazovskaya.

The starting system includes a gear reducer, starting and shaft turning gear. The proposed technical solution, in addition to the main function of starting a gas turbine engine, provides the ability to connect the useful load through the starting system reducer and transfer torque to the useful load from the GTE rotor operating in a stationary mode, which allows reducing the power consumed by the gas turbine unit. In this case, the proposed design of the gas turbine engine starting system, when used as part of a GTU, provides an increase in the service life of the gearbox and the reliability of the start-up system in whole, as well as a reduction in the noise level during operation of the gearbox.

The invention can be used in the development of starting systems, mainly designed to start gas turbine engines by means of a shaft-turning gear and starting device (starter), as well as to provide the ability to connect the useful load, for example, pumps or electric generators, through a gearbox.
