The turbo-generator units manufactured by «REP Holding» are put into operation as a part of new condensing power plant at PJSC«Koks»

At the Kemerovo Coke and Chemical Plant («Koks»), included in the Industrial Metallurgical Holding (IMH), two steam-turbo-generator units with 6 MW of capacity, developed and manufactured by «REP Holding», are put into operation. The equipment is installed as a part of new condensing power plant (CPP) with capacity of 12 MW, built by the enterprise within the frames of implementation of the environmental protection and resource-saving activities.

Under this project «REP Holding» accomplished the package supply of high-technology equipment comprising two steam turbines, generators and control systems. The turbines made by REP Holding with up-to-date control system possess all required technical characteristics demanded from the front-rank samples of turbo-generator units. The aggregates were supplied into the plant with all auxiliary equipment and modern automatic control and monitor system.

The equipment produced at the Holding’s facilities is of key importance for the technological process focused on power generation from the coke oven gas and consequently on reduction in pollutant emissions value. As reported by the plant the pollutant emissions generated as a result of fuel combustion will be reduced by 5 times. In addition to the environmental aspect, the power station will permit to provide the plant with cheaper electric energy: the cost of 1 kWh of CPP production will decrease by more than two times.

In consequence of the object putting in commission about 90% of coke oven gas will be used as a fuel that will reduce the amount of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere; previously coke oven gas was simply burned out. Now over 105 mln m3 of coke gas will be combusted in CPP boilers with further generation of electric power by use of two turbines with capacity of 6 MW each.

«Through participation in construction of the condensing power plant for Kemerovo plant «REP Holding» for the first time announced itself to be a package supplier of high-technology steam-turbo-generator units. During this project we also confirmed our service competency as well: all supervising commissioning and start-up works and units system putting into industrial operation were carried out by our specialists. Definitely, this is a project of strategic importance not only with regard to development of our manufacturing competency, infrastructure upgrade of a particular facility, but with regard to improvement of the environmental situation and population life quality in Kemerovo region, - the Vice-President of JSC «REPH» Sergei Nikishchenkov said.

Besides the turbine house at the production site of PJSC «Koks» within the frames of the own CPP project implementation a substation, a process pipe rack and a boiler house with a capacity of 125 t/h fueled by coke oven gas were built. The electric power plant was built in two years, its cost made 769 mln.rub.

The top officials of Kemerovo region headed by the Governor Aman Tuleev took part in the official ceremony of object start-up highlighting not only industrial but social significance of the project implementation.

Industrial Metallurgical Holding (IMH) is a Russian vertically integrated metallurgical company specializing in production of pig iron, extraction and procession of coking coal and iron ore, foundry casting and powder metallurgy. The Group’s key production facilities are located in Kemerovo, Belgorod, Tula and Kaluga regions of Russian Federation.

PJSC «Koks» is one of Russia’s largest producers and exporters of metallurgical coke with annual production capacity of 3 million tons. The plant is one of the key companies and the actual founder of the Industrial Metallurgical Holding. The Kemerovo Coke and Chemical Plant produces metallurgical coke used as a fuel for blast furnaces and as a reducing agent of iron ore due to the oxygen removal by chemical means from the ferrous oxide contained in iron ore.
